On Saturday the 15th of September 2018 we attended a charity event put on by one of our customers, specialist supplier of roof and cladding AJW Distribution at ‘The Playground’ in Bury St.Edmunds.
The Playground assault course is an extremely hard physical challenge, even for the super-fit! However, impressively all of the teams that participated on the day managed to complete the course.
With the support of AJW’s staff, customers and suppliers the event turned out to be a monumental success! It was the first ever ‘Alan’s Challenge’ and we feel honoured that we were invited to take part of such a good day for a great cause.
So, what exactly was the challenge? Each team was made up of between 2-4 people, plus a cardboard cut-out of ‘Alan’! The teams had to get themselves around the 1000m course and 25 obstacles as quickly as possible while keeping their carboard cut out of ‘Alan’ looking new. Sounds easy right? We can tell you it wasn’t! The various obstacles made it extremely hard to keep ‘Alan’ looking new, some team members fell when climbing obstacles while others unfortunately fell into the muddy water; communications was essential to get ‘Alan’ round in good condition!
After the main event there were a number of other mini challenges throughout the day to keep everyone engaged and active. The other mini challenges bought out everyone’s competitive side and included tyre flipping, chin up challenge and hanging tough which we are proud to say our very own David won!
The money raised from this day went to a charity close to our hearts Headway. Over a number of years we have built a close association with Headway Suffolk, they do amazing work to help people that suffer with brain injuries so we were delighted to be able to play our part in helping raise as much as possible for them.
Headway Suffolk communications and marketing officer, David Crane took part in the event and commented. “We were thrilled to be part of AJW Distribution’s assault course charity event. All nine participants from Headway Suffolk thoroughly enjoyed themselves and found out about muscles they never knew they had! We also claimed the best-kept ‘Alan’! It was a great team-bonding exercise.”
“It was a fantastic day – so well organised and professional. AJW, their suppliers and sponsors did themselves proud. It was a pleasure to be part of it, let alone being a beneficiary charity. All monies raised will go to help fund our continued work of supporting local people with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions.”
The event turned out to be a resounding success and everyone that formed Team Seven couldn’t speak highly enough of the event… We have already confirmed our place for next year!
A huge well done to everyone at AJW Distribution that worked so hard to organise the first ever Alan’s challenge, we hope there are many more to come in the future.
"Seven Training provided good training locations and facilities for all courses delivered. Our drivers all said the CPC courses were very enjoyable and engaging, they particularly liked the trainers use of their personal experiences rather than using slide shows of other incidents. "
"The trainer utilised very good content to back up his impressive subject knowledge when making his points. The high-quality training equipment and environment also contributed to making this an enjoyable day, I would definitely use Seven Driver Training again."
"The trainers delivery style ensured the learners were fully engaged, giving them the opportunity to practice their skills significantly prior to assessment"
"The trainer identified each trainee learning style and asked questions appropriate to meet their learning needs, he had established a good rapport with his audience and easily engaged them in practical activities and discussions"
